Deboullie Public Reserve in Maine
Region: New England Activity Type: Hiking/Walk Place: Deboullie Township, ME
Remote camping trip with several hiking opportunities. Deboullie Mt has an old fire tower and has excellent views of the surrounding area. The trail is fairly short, only 2 miles one way but has some steep stretches in the last 0.7 miles.
Deboullie Mt is around 1,900 ft, with an elevation gain of around 870 ft, most of that is in the last 0.7 miles.
There are other hiking trails that loop around Deboullie and Gardner Ponds.
Deboullie Loop Trail - almost 6 miles, and moderate.
Gardner Loop Trail - over 8 miles, and has some short, difficult stretches depending on the route taken.
Deboullie has over 30 miles of trails in a very remote setting.
Camping is primitive, with only a table, outhouse and fireplace. Campsites are located along the shores of several ponds in the area. There are sporting camps in the area that offer indoor plumbing and meals for those who don't want to "rough it".
Deboullie is a remote area for people who want to get away from it all. Cell phones do not work, except at some of the higher elevations.
This link provides info on the area, but the info has not been updated to reflect new trails.
Thank you for giving me a second chance. Don't know if this will make the cut.
Sounds awesome! I'd definitely sign up or submit an event if no one else does
Is it against the rules to vote for my own idea? :) LOL
For anyone interested, here is a link to pictures from my trip on Oct. 21, 2017. There are a lot of pictures... https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1eK56VkSKawf48keIlE3l8TDFgJR-xK7S
