Date? Easy Afternoon Loop Breakheart Rsv
Region: New England Activity Type: Hiking/Walk Place: Wakefield , MA
I'm primarily looking for suggestions on a date for this - mid-November - Saturday 11/12, Sunday 11/13, Saturday 11/19, or Sunday 11/20.
----
A repeat of a hike in October, this will be a 2-2.5 mile 1:30pm (for us night owls) loop hike around Pearce Lake in the Breakheart Reservation North of Boston. We will be enter at the REAR Hemlock Road entrance in Wakefield. (The traffic hum from Route 1 is less on this side.)
A short bit at the beginning and the last third of the hike will be on paved roadways. In between, we'll follow trails on the water's edge (with the requisite occasional muddy spot and roots to step over). If the conditions are too wet, we can alternatively stick to the roadways. (They're internal to the park, closed to traffic, and in excellent condition (smooth pavement.))
From GAIA: Ascent 182', maximum elevation 173', and minimum elevation of 80' (It’s pretty easy - I had two great experienced GOers attend last time and they could’ve done this in their sleep.) ;)
Breakheart Reservation info (and pdf trail map) - https://www.mass.gov/locations/breakheart-reservation. Entering from the West on Hemlock Rd we'll take the Fern and Pearce Lake trails around to the beach. Then Hemlock road back.
If interested, there are a couple Starbucks we could go to afterwards.
