Mountains to Sea Trail

05/28/2018 Region: South Atlantic Activity Type: Hiking/Walk Place: Various, NC

Not sure region above is accurate; the hike(s) I am proposing is in North Carolina.

I have been putting together hikes on the Mountains to the Sea trail since last summer; have done all of the trail around Asheville from Black Balsam to Mt Mitchell. I am particularly looking for people to hike with from Black Balsam on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Clingman's Dome in the Smokies (sections 1 and 2). I usually do 10 mile day hikes but am open to longer hikes and camping/ backpacking. Sections 1 and 2 cover around 100 miles; not looking at doing it all at once though can do multiple hike weekends.

The trail goes from Clingman's Dome in the mountains to Jockey's Ridge on the Outer Banks, 1000+ miles. If you are in another part of the state and would like to knock off some of the trail I am good with that as well.

Sounds wonderful - I have done large sections of the MST from around the Pisgah Inn up to Doughton Park near Sparta - I do not choose to spend the night on the trail so there are a few sections I won't do because trailheads are too far apart to doin a day - I hike weekdays because I prefer to go naked :). But I'm glad to keep the kilt on and explore new sections south of Pisgah or around Grandfather or above Linville - I have done all the sections I can do naked from Black Mountain Campground so

There are a few Black Balsams, if you mean the one near Shining Rock, I can meet you guys for some of it. Ed I wished I could of joined you guys recently in GA, but I'm working a lot. You guys shout when you are in the Pisgah/Shining Rock area. I'm in Haywood Cnty. Peace, Markus

I hiked Mt Mitchell last year... would love to go back. Spring break maybe?
