Florida Trail Weekend Hike
05/26/2018 Region: South Atlantic Activity Type: Hiking/Walk Place: Orlando, FL
Just seeing if anyone is interested in a "Florida Trail" hike sometime. I live in Orlando, so I'm interested in the trails anywhere in the Central Florida region. Nothing crazy: a day hike. Open to different fitness levels. Thanks! Brandon
Hi Brandon, I like the idea, but the date doesn't work for me. Could you give a bit more info on the trail start and end points and distance? We're in JAX Beach but don't mind driving to do an outdoor event.
I would be up for that, would like to find hiking trails that allow you to bring pets. I have two large dogs that love to hike.
Yay! Getting the conversation started! Jay, I'm looking at this page on the Florida Hikes website: https://floridahikes.com/hikes-with-dogs#map I'm gonna do some research on that. Mike, the date as well as location are flexible. Given where you two are (polar opposites!) we might just end up looking at somewhere closer to the Central East coast.
I like the idea. Curious to see what details work out. I live in Tampa.
Good afternoon Gentlemen, I am actually planning four hikes on the Florida Trail to the west of Melbourne. Two hikes in the Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area between US 441 and SR 60. One is about 9.4 miles and the other is about 15 miles. Two other hikes (maybe one) in the Bull Creek Wildlife Management Area between US 192 and US 441.There is 20 miles of trail in the Bull Crrek area (still looking for a forest road to cut the hike in half). I would like to do all of them as day hikes
My hubby and I would be interested. We live in Tampa but we could make the drive. We’ve been trying to find some good hiking in FL. We moved here from Palm Springs CA a year ago. There was a great gay hiking club there. Sounds like fun!
For spring break a year ago last March, I did several of the trails in the Arbuckle Wildlife Management Area along Arbuckle Lake. I did it as a multi-night camping trip. But they can certainly be done individually as day hikes. All but one trail was very well managed; not wanting to do trailblazing and bushwhacking, I avoided that one section.
