It turned out to be a beautiful fall day for this hike! We headed up on the Davis path, a former bridle path, cut 15 years before the Civil War in 1845. Bemis Bridge, a foot bridge over the shallow Saco River is quite impressive! We got going around 12:15pm and it took 2 1/2 hours for us to get to the top. It is 2.5 miles to reach the summit. We emerged from spruces on open ledges, which we followed for a good stretch and had great foliage views of the surrounding mountains! We saw about 30 hikers on the trail during the course of the day. On the summit it was very windy so after enjoying the expansive panorama we found a sheltered spot for lunch. Great hike, great views including colorful foliage, with not too much effort, highly recommend it!
