To get here, Get off at Exit 2 from Rte.101.

If driving down 101 East, take a right at the end of the ramp towards Auburn/Chester on Rte 121. [If driving down 101 West, then take a left at the end of the ramp.]

Then, take your first left (just after Bar & Grill) onto Rte 27/ Old Candia Rd.

About a half mile in, look for Tower Hill Road on the left.

Head 0.4 mi up this dirt road, you’ll see gated trail accesses on the left; simply park alongside the road.

We are taking the trail from the second gate on the left. We'll be driving a blue Toyota Tacoma.

We thought it would be busy. People want to get out of their homes during this pandemic and the greater outdoors is one of the safest places to do just that! There were 50 cars…maybe more….parked at 11AM and we ran into over 150 people during the loop hike…mostly small groups of families…otherwise couples, solo hikers, people fishing or mountain bikers.

The loop trail is 3.8 miles so despite the number of people we ran into it felt like we had the trail to ourselves most of the time. The trail is actually a wide dirt road providing plenty of space to spread out. Everyone was very respectful and stepped off to the side to pass.

Our group did an awesome job practicing social distancing during the hike! Nothing but safe, healthy fun!

I actually would have preferred a less busy trail. It’s hard though when you want to find an easy trail at an attractive location to motivate our less active members to join us. Tower Hill Pond forest is owned and managed by Manchester Water Works to ensure clean drinking water to the City of Manchester and surrounding towns.

As far as the hike itself? What an enjoyable hike with friends! The terrain and views of the pond were very nice. It feels more like a lake than a pond.

We hiked the loop counter clockwise and had lunch ¾ of the way in a peninsula with sunny rocks where we could all spread out. We took our time and did not rush the hike so we can soak in each other’s company!

It was great to see so many members get active again. Don’t stop now! Your pace and energy level will continue to improve.

When we got back, after chilling on Jon's deck, he made another of his signature meals! Yum!!!

Join us on our next two GetFit hikes this spring to get in shape for a great summer ahead!
