Summary
Check out our Nature Preserve followed by a meal at a local lobster & steak restaurant!
We can enjoy a less ambitious winter hike in the terrific Boisvert & Normand Nature Preserve! This is an easy hike on mostly flat terrain where we will first explore the woods roads, check out our recent timber harvest on our other lot and then do a loop hike over to Soucook Sanctuary and Esker Trails. The highlight will be the section along the Soucook River in an old growth forest. Overall, this will probably be two miles with hardly any elevation gain.
We will most likely need snowshoes on this lightly trafficked preserve. I’ll monitor trail conditions and update the group if we will really need them. Otherwise, I think barebooting will be fine since the trails are mostly flat. If weather/snow conditions are questionable, the leader would cancel.
For the hike we recommend wearing insulated hiking boots since the snow melt will get into boots making your feet cold. Otherwise, since this hike is so short, street clothes should suffice, but don’t forget to have gloves and warm hat. If you tend to get thirsty, a small water bottle should be fine.
We will meet for 1PM at Boisvert & Normand Nature Preserve Trailhead. I’ll be driving a blue Toyota Tacoma truck.
Following the hike, we’ll get together for a meal around 3pm at Mavris Lobster and Seafood Restaurant in Concord, NH. The address is 354 Sheep Davis Road, Concord, NH. You can check out the menu here: https://www.eatalobster.com/menu
Please sign up if you are interested in going, as I will be making reservations at the restaurant. I hope you can join us!
Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot
If travelling south, drive down Route 106 south, continue past the Motor Speedway until you reach traffic lights. After the road on the left called Town Dump Road, take your next left, Currier Road. After one minute, you’ll see trailhead parking on the right.
If travelling north, drive up I-93 to Concord, take I-393 to the end, and take a left onto Route 106 North. After the traffic lights for the intersection of Route 129, look for Currier Road on the right. After one minute, you’ll see trailhead parking on the right.
If the parking lot is full, please park alongside the road; the same side of the gate.

I have an extra pair of snowshoes, but then you would be depending upon me. I'm really going to try and make it, good start time for me and not a long drive :)
Hi Mark S: I have an extra pair of snowshoes. I will bring them with me for you as a back-up in case Gtothe3 can't make it.
EMS in Manchester did not have any snowshoe rentals available on 1/25 but said to check in with them closer to the date. Gtothe3 - if I could borrow a pair, I would greatly appreciate it! If it works out. I plan to join the meal afterward. Looking forward to it. Fingers crossed that if we need snowshoes, that I can find some :-)

I'll provide an update about 3 days before to confirm whether we need snowshoes.
Thx Jon - don't know why my question posted twice - weird.
Does anyone know where I could rent snowshoes?
EMS has a rental program

I’ve made a reservation at Mavris Lobster and Seafood Restaurant for 15 after the hike. Please let me know if any of you will not be joining us for a meal afterwards.
I'm sorry guys but I'm going to have to change this to one week later, Saturday, February 24th. Hope you can still make it.
