Thank you so much, Bob, for leading this hike up Madison! We really lucked out with the weather. Great conversations and camaraderie had by all.

Trip Report

Our GO group of 7 hikers met at Appalachia Trailhead at 8AM.  The weather was warm, steamy, and the mountains were in the fog. The trail was very wet and slippery due to the recent heavy rainfall and it seemed like were were hiking in a rainforest at times.  We ascended quickly to arrive at the hut to refill our water bottles and take a brief break.   After leaving our packs at the hut, we did a quick scramble to tag the summit.  The summit was clear and sunny but quite hazy so the views were limited.  The winds were light but the bugs were out in force at the summit so the group headed back to the hut for lunch.  After a restful break and plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful day, the group headed back down Valley Way trail to finish the hike.  Many thanks to all the GO hikers for making this a great hike & get-together!
