Summary

Come tent camp and also enjoy the Upper Narrows in Winthrop, Maine (just 15 minutes West of Augusta) for an active weekend on and around the water. We have 12 small watercraft available (or bring your own), including -2 Canoe's, 1 Ghanooe, 3 Paddle Boards, 7 Kayaks, a 12 foot sailboat and 17 foot sailboat. The water should be warmest (80 degrees?). We have a dock you can jump off, a small beach to lounge at, a swim raft out in the middle of the lake and a ramp to launch your own small boat. This outing is not suited to the beginner kayaker/boater, nor anyone who cannot swim well. We'll take a 2-3 hour tour of the lake Saturday and likely again Sunday including the Upper & Lower Narrows, checking out wildlife (Bald Eagles, Loons, Ducks, Turtles) and other lake-front homes. Bring a noodle to float around on afterwards back by the dock, a hat, some sun-screen, and enjoy the warmest part of the year. Our lake is 1 mile long and has a neat little island in the middle where you can dock and jump off Standing Rock into deep water. Bring your own tent, bedding, cooler, breakfasts and lunches. We'll all share in cost for pizza/simple Italian and salad Friday Night + BYOB. We do have an old boathouse that provides ample shade and protection from the elements in the event of a temporary rain shower. Downtown Winthrop is 1 mile away where you'll find a gas station, Dunkin Donuts, Hannaford, etc. We'll offer a Campfire and BBQ (Chicken, Burgers & Corn on cob) dinner Sat evening bring along a BYOB, appetizer to share & pot-luck side dish (Salad, Side, or Desert -- homemade is a little more yummy than CircleK prepackaged cookies, for example) - When you RSVP add Comment on what you might bring so everyone sees and plans accordingly -- we will have plenty of ICE for beverages, and both indoor and outdoor seating available (weather dependant). We are dog-friendly, and you're welcome to bring your own pooch as long as s/he's socially trained, not a barker, nor aggresive/breed & obviously pick up after them. We have a new male black lab puppy in training (born April Fools 2022) so please be mindful. We have 8 tent spots, and 8 car spots...sm/med sized tents on our property right there on the lake. Flat, dirt locations where you can set up a tent for the weekend. We do have running water, electricity, cell service, and a primitive camping toilet. Carpooling with partners or friends would be awesome.

Looks like the weather is going to be good, can I get a tent site in about the same area again this year? I have the same huge tent!

Gtothe3 Posted Jul 6, 2022 at 2:15 PM

I'll bring my nicely seasoned boneless chicken thighs!
