Summary

Celebrate fall with a hike over South and North Baldface in the White Mountains.  This loop has two of the 52 With A View peaks, each offering a 360-degree view with Maine to the east and Mt. Washington to the west.

The distance is 9.3 miles, and the elevation gain is 3,600’.  There are STEEP LEDGES as we ascend clockwise up South Baldface, so the weather will be an important factor for this hike.  (These ledges are on the Terrifying 25 list if you’re interested in completing these.)  Definitely wear shoes that have strong traction.  Please remember that THIS IS A MODERATE TO STRENUOUS HIKE. We aim to keep a steady pace with only few, very short breaks. We will take a lunch break.

Please bring the ten essentials in your pack at all times: https://www.nps.gov/articles/10essentials.htm

AllTrails map: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/baldface-trail

The hike is about enjoying our surroundings and each other's company. Please bring your positivity, flexibility and good sense of humor. Negativity, politics and current news events can remain at home.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot
