Trip Report/Photos

Gorgeous day on the trail and summit! I think I speak for many when I let out a boisterous cheer for the return of the Snow Miser! While this is a really low snow year, Mr. Polar Vortex delivered with the temps! I am almost certain I saw a glimpse of him in the snow-capped trees. The top hat was a dead giveaway. We’ll see more of him this week! We started with temps in in the teens and the sun warmed things up by noon.
Trail was packed down by other hikers. There was ice underneath the fresh snow so we used Spikes. Maybe one day this winter we can use snowshoes!
Lots of people out today, many with their dogs. It was cool talking to many other climbers and swapping notes with a member of the Lakes Region Search and Rescue Team. Thankfully abundant sunshine, no clouds, nor any wind contributed to a stellar day!
We had grand views across Lake Winnipesaukee when we reached the open ledges. Soon we were on the Mt. Roberts summit – not a particularly high or grand peak, but with impressive views north into the heart of the White Mountains including the Presidentials!
