Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

If you are spending Friday night with us, we cannot let you in until 7pm since we both work. Otherwise, on Saturday, meet at our house for 8:00 am so we can make introductions, distribute tools, and arrange carpooling to the trailhead. We are meeting at our house: 676 Upper Mad River Road, Thornton, NH.

Directions:

Take I-93 and use Exit 28. At the end of the ramp take right onto Rte 49 East for 3.5 miles and take a left on Burbank Hill Road.

During this 3.5 miles, you'll pass a traffic light where there is a dam on your right, then pass a White Mountain National Forest campground and then see a former restaurant for sale on your left. About a mile after the restaurant, you'll see Burbank Hill Road on the left (Goose Hollow Campground sign). If you cross the Mad River on the bridge, you just missed the left turn.

Take a left onto steep Burbank Hill Road and you’ll quickly reach the top of the hill where you take your first right onto Upper Mad River Road (Hiking Sign). The road will soon turn into gravel, you'll pass two apartments on your right and then a house. Our property begins right after this house and after about 200 yards you’ll see a mailbox with "676" which is our house. The house is not very visible from the road.

Please park your car in the upper lot at my house and walk down the driveway. You may drive down to the house to unload your gear but please drive back up for parking.

As part of GayOutdoors' philosophy, we believe in doing our part to give back to the community. A group of 8 GayOutdoors members gathered to work on our adopted trail: Mt. Osceola. We divided up into 2 groups to perform both needed maintenance from both ends of the trail.

We were really excited seeing so many members sign up for this trail maintenance event. Jon’s group started from the Tripoli Road entrance who removed 2 blowdowns, 2 small overhanging trees; and cleaned waterbars and cut back encroaching vegetation all the way to the Mt. Osceola summit. Mike’s group started from the Kancamagus Highway/Greeley Ponds entrance who cleaned waterbars and cut back encroaching vegetation to the East Peak summit. It's great to see friends coming together and willing to give of their time/efforts to make a difference!

We then went back to the GO Center for snacks & drinks followed by an incredible dinner cooked up by Jon: Garlic Lime Chicken Breast, Sirloin Kabobs, Quinoa Edamame Salad, Rice Pilaf, and Pesto Broccoli Salad. For dessert we had Citrus Pound Cake with fresh strawberries and cream.

We then went outdoors to sit around a roaring bonfire.

Sunday morning breakfast was a Spinach & Feta Frittata served with Sundried Tomato and Mozz Chicken Sausage.

I'm sure that you'd agree how very proud we are of GO and its members for taking the initiative. As a team, we can get a lot accomplished.  Hats off to each of you! A total of 72 hours were put in for this, a most productive day. All lodging and food was provided by GayOutdoors. It was a weekend of fun, hard work, camaraderie, new skills and friendships!

A trail that you have worked on belongs to you in a way that it's difficult to put into words. A personal Thank You to the crew for a job well done. That message was continuously given us as hikers went by all day making it ALL worthwhile.
