Summer Fun!

Summer is a great time for you to join our activities or post one of your own. It's warm for enjoying the great outdoors. PLUS there is so much for you to do that sometimes it's hard to decide what to do! Here are just a few ideas you might want to try...

Hiking & Swimming: We have a lot of hikes posted for you to participate in and there is something for everyone. Challenge yourself with one of the high peaks over 4,000 feet or try a more leisurely day hike. Some of our hikes include a swimming destination to beat the heat!

Camping/Weekend Getaways: So pretty much whatever outdoor activity you want to do, camping for the weekend or staying in a lodge allows you to either make it more accessible if you have a long drive or do more of it. The thought of sitting along a campfire under a clear sky with friends, gazing up at the stars and listening to the sounds of the night can strengthen our bodies, pacify our minds and restore our spirits. Many of our trips offer camping or lodging for the weekend. [The Mad River Lodge in Waterville Valley, NH  also allows members to spend the weekend on certain trips.]

Paddling: We have thousands of lakes and miles of rivers so paddling is not only one of the most enjoyable GayOutdoors' outdoor activities but it offers unique views into the lives of all species of wildlife from schools of fish to the birds that feed on them and from small almost noticeable mink to the great moose.

Backpacking: Not surprisingly, backpacking is one of our most popular activities! It can be either a challenging climb up a mountain to spend the night for expansive views or a leisurely hike to a pristine pond for swimming and bird watching.

BBQ Social Events: Some events offer outdoor barbecues at someone's home. Some members have homes beside a river or lake so we can spend the day soaking and sunbathing. These are great events to reconnect with old friends and make new ones!

If you are trying these activities for the first time [or not], don't hesitate to ask the trip leader for any help!
