MTS MOOSILAUKE AND SOUTH PEAK HIKE

We saw over 100 other people today. Gorgeous hike on a beautiful sunny day to these two peaks! Doesn't feel as tough as the length/elevation would suggest.

The ground was largely packed snow, with several stretches of ice. MicroSpikes were perfect. Poles were helpful in some spots and glad we brought them.

A bit windy on the summit but that’s to be expected. So many hikers welcoming the New Year on this trail. We spent a short time on Mt Moosilauke summit and a longer time on the less-windy South Peak for lunch. Views were unmatched today along the way and from both summits…views to the mountains in NH, VT and New York.

Someone left two Switchback Ale’s in the snow at the end of the trail when we finished…Trail Magic! Jon cooked up a cracked pepper-garlic rub prime rib when we got back home. An epic memorable day for our first hike in 2021. Joy, happiness, peace, and health to all in 2021!!!
