Mount Roberts loop hike

10/10/2015

Trip Report/Photos from tdefauw

Joe and I listed the Mount Roberts loop hike for Saturday 10/10/2015.  Unfortunately it looks like there was an error on the GO listing where I can't seem to post a trip report there (and Joe's picture and my picture don't show), so I'm listing this as a personal trip (the error was probably from clicking submit more than once accidentally when initially posting the trip).

Tim signed up to do the trip with us, and 8 miles went quickly as we had great conversation the whole way.  We were hoping for more people to sign up for the hike, but sometimes a smaller group is good as it's more personal.     It was a chilly but pretty fall morning, foliage probably not quite peak yet.   We went up the 2.5 mile Mount Robert trail to the summit of Mount Roberts, past multiple viewpoints of Lake WInnepesaukee and then there was a view of the presidential range from the summit.   The Mount Roberts trail itself was moderate, and then we went down several carriage roads (High Ridge trail, Faraway Mountain trail, Cold Spring Trail, and Cold Spring Rd) which were just very carefree but beautiful walking down for 5.5 miles.     We chose to wait until after the summit, at the final viewpoint on the High Ridge Trail to eat lunch, with a great view of Lake Winnepesaukee and Castle in the Clouds in the distance.

Overall, it was a beautiful day, with great company and great conversation.

Thad & Joe- It was a pleasure seeing you guys on the trails again. Thanks for posting the Roberts Hike and making this perfect Fall day activity possible. Nice crisp day, great color and views, and great comic relief. Thanks for not canceling for a single tag a long.
