Summary

We invite you to join us for some great ocean camping near Freeport, ME! Choose the days you can make it and let us know.

For information on the campsites and making reservations click here:  https://www.freeportcamping.com/. Nightly rates vary depending if you want ocean view versus inland: $70 to $39.

Jon and I will be camping Thursday night thru Saturday nights with a Sunday departure. You are most welcome to join us to make this a 3-night excursion or choose the days that work best for you and let us know. We are staying at campsite 826 if you would like to camp near us. Please post a comment as to which campsite you reserved and for which nights.

When you arrive, make sure you stop by our site to say hello.

The campground offers two-hour kayak rentals and either half or full day bike rentals which we plan to do. We also plan to visit nearby Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park for some great coastal hiking. There is always shopping and dining in Freeport itself.  If the weather if warm, we could also hang out at one of the nearby beaches: Reid State Beach or Popham Beach State Park!

Each campsite has a fire pit, a picnic table, room for your equipment, and a parking space for one car. There are free hot showers. Bathrooms - flushing toilets and outhouses.

We are thinking we can take turns hosting a potluck BBQ and fire each night. Jon and I will host Saturday night. We can also think about going into Freeport for dinner one night. Lots of options!

I noticed that there a couple of people that would like to share a campsite. I am happy to do that if someone wants to reach out to me and let me know.

Don59 Posted Sep 8, 2023 at 6:52 AM

I am still getting to know this site. Gandalf, I replied to your e-mail but noticed that it did not post on the site. Thanks for the information about the to potluck. I am happy to host a campfire at my site on Friday night. Thanks, I look forward to meeting everyone.

Gandalf Posted Sep 7, 2023 at 10:38 PM

I discussed this further with my partner and having everyone take a turn hosting a potluck might be hard to pull off with all the logistics involved. If everyone is fine with this, we can all cook our own dinner at our site but then gather together for a communal campfire afterwards. We can host a campfire for everyone at our site on Thursday as folks arrive. Don, would you mind hosting a communal campfire at your site Friday night at 7PM. Anyone want to pick up Saturday night at 7PM?

Don59 Posted Sep 7, 2023 at 3:15 PM

I was just able to book site 827. I am driving myself and will be using a 7-person tent. I am happy to share my site if someone is interested. I am also willing to help with hosting on Thursday or Friday night, I am just not sure what that entails. Can someone get me up to speed on what that means and what needs to be done? I look forward to meeting everyone, this will be my first trip with this group.

We are so excited to welcome you to our camping weekend! Is there anything in particular you guys want to do? Right now, we are leaning towards doing a two hour kayak rental on Thursday at 1:30pm [campground check-in begins at noon], half day bike rental for Friday and coastal hiking on Saturday. Jon and I are hosting the BBQ/Potluck Saturday night. Anyone volunteering for hosting Thursday or Friday nights?

maineguy2022 Posted Jul 27, 2023 at 4:12 PM

Hi, I would like to share a tent. I have a single camp cot which does not take up much space.

Gtothe3 Posted Jul 27, 2023 at 12:15 PM

I have not reserved a space. I was looking the other day, seemed like no places were close to their campsite. I have a 10 person tent, large enough for 2 queen size mattresses. But that would leave little room inside, perhaps you have a smaller air mattress than mine? Alternatively, we could set up another tent, just to put some things in. So level ground is Not so necessary.

Has anyone other than M&J reserved a campsite? I just looked at the available sites. I believe we can share a site and split the cost if they are large enough for 2 tents.
