Summary

Please join us for a leisurely 3-mile walk in the woods of NW CT, hiking to the towering 1700' summit of Haystack Mtn.  Please wear sturdy hiking shoes/boots, wear clothing layers appropriate to the forecast and bring snacks/lunch/water according to your needs.  We'll take in the 360 degree view from the summit tower and then have lunch at the picnic table there.  We should return to our cars by/around 2PM. Raindate Sunday 9 May.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

From the North – Great Barrington or Pittsfield, MA: travel south on Route 7 into Canaan and take a left heading east on Route 44, then in Norfolk take a left onto Route 272 north. The park will be on the left.

From the South – Greater Danbury area: travel north on Route 7 into Canaan and take a right heading east on Route 44, then in Norfolk take a left onto Route 272 north. The park will be on the left.

From the East – Hartford area: travel west on I-84, take Exit 39. Continue west on Route 4 onto Route 179 going north. From Route 179 get on Route 44W. After Norfolk village where Route 44 takes a sharp left go straight onto Route 272 north. The park will be on the left. 

We'll park just inside the entrance gate, one car in front of the other pulling as far over as possible to the right side of the road.
