This is almost becoming a tradition, but Riverbend Park is a fairly popular outdoor venue that is easily accessible to most South Floridians, and provides for a nice combination of history and natural beauty. We will hike a combination of trails starting at the Visitor Center, that will take us to a restored Florida pioneer farmstead, and a restored Seminole Village. We plan to return alongside the Loxahatchee river, for a total of approximately five miles.
Afterwards, if there is interest, we can retire to the ever popular Guanabana's at the other end of the Loxahatchee river, for a well deserved beer and late lunch.
Parts of this hike are exposed, so bring a head cover, and sunscreen. Bugs shouldn't be too bad, but bringing along a bug repellent would not be a bad idea either.
Rain will cancel.
We will meet by the posted information sign at the Visitor Center's parking lot. It is very easy to get there from I-95. Whether coming from north or south, get off at exit 87B and go west on Indiantown Road (SR 706), past the Florida Turnpike for 1.6 miles. The entrance to the Park will be on your left. If you are coming down the Turnpike, take the Indiantown Road exit and do as above.
Let me know if you'd like to carpool from my home in Lake Worth.
