Weather looks good for a hike on Saturday to Mt. Lafayette! The hike is about 8 miles round trip with a 3500 foot elevation gain with a hiking time of 6-7 hours. We will have lunch at the summit or hut. We will be hiking in winter conditions with ice and snow. MicroSpikes or Hillsounds Crampons are mandatory. Please have the appropriate gear/clothing to hike this time of year and the appropriate amount of layers to keep your core body warm. We recommend WINTER hiking boots, MicroSpikes, poles, wool hat, gloves, hand warmers, rain/wind gear, warm layers, HEADLAMP and NO COTTON. Carry at least 2 liters of water, lunch and snacks. I will send out a communication a few days before the hike with the trail conditions. Since this is a winter group hike, please try to stay together during the hike. If you find yourself getting too far ahead, please wait for the other hikers to catch up. Hikers are welcome to stay over my house (about 15 minutes from the trailhead) before and after the hike. As a condition of your voluntary participation in this activity you acknowledge and agree to the following: this activity involves inherent risks that can cause property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death to participants and/or others; you assume all risk associated with this activity; you are responsible for having the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, clothing, and equipment to safely participate in this activity; you know and will follow the Hike Safe Responsibility Code (Home - Hike Safe); the organizer(s) of this activity are volunteers; and you release, hold harmless, and indemnify the organizer(s) and all members of this group from any and all claims for property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death - including those caused by negligence and/or other reasons. Meet a Bridle Path/Falling Waters Trailhead Parking Lot (Northbound side of I 93) or carpool from my house (15 minutes away from trailhead).
