We went skiing in Wildcat – Saturday and Attitash – Sunday.  Saturday was very cold and windy.  It must have been in negative territory in terms of windchill.  We joined forces with OutRyders and met up at the base lodge.  There were about 12 -14 of us skiing in the extremely cold and windy weather.  The resort was a bit disappointing, since most trails had little snow on them and a lot of ice.  There was snow making during the day that coated skiers with a layer of blinding ice droplets.  The top of the mountain may have beautiful views, but considering the stiff wind and cold temperature, one did not stay there for too long.  BTW, Mt. Washington was shrouded in fog! 

The following day at Attitash was much better.  The wind mostly died down and it was warmer.  We parked at Bear Peak – much easier than the main lodge.  We skied both groomed blue and black trails, which were mostly in a decent shape.  One had to watch, though, for scrapped off and icy patches, especially in the steeper areas.   Not all the trails were open, but we had enough terrain to ski on in both Bear Peak (better trails) and the Attitash.  Don’t miss the observation tower at the Attitash peak – a spectacular view of the White Mountains including Mt. Washington.
