We took a leisurely drive up to Crawford Notch, with everyone still arriving 20 minutes ahead of our scheduled 10:30 start. On the way up, the sunny sky gave way to some murky clouds, and as we approached, Washington was enveloped. However, any fears of rain were allayed as the sky brightened. The views were great throughout our hike. The four of us - Alex, Peter, Mike, and Otis - found our common pace as we headed up the trail. Though navigable, this was by far the muddiest I've ever seen the Webster-Jackson Trail. All I could figure is that there must have been a heavy, localized shower the night before. As the trail got steep and rocky, Otis was getting his first intro to this sort of terrain. His approach was tentative at first, and substantially more confident as he gained experience. After hitting the summit and lunching up, we headed down. Thanks for the great trail company!
