Trip Report/Photos

This is my first hike as trip leader and it was a blast.  13 of us meet up at 11:00 am

and after waiting a while we took off up the mountain at 11:15 am.  I tend to hike really

fast so Bob keep blowing his whistle for me to wait up.  We got to our first lookout and

had great views out to the west looking at Hunter Mtn in NY and Bear Mtn in Mass.

A 14th guy caught up to us at the lookout and joined us for the rest of the hike. After

a short break we continued on to the Cunnigham Tower.  It was a summer retreat for

Seymour Cunningham in the late 1800's/early 1900's.  Then we made the final push to the

summit which is 1600 feet, remember this is Connecticut.  From the summit we had the

views to west plus views to east toward Torrington and Avon Mtn.  We had lunch at the

summit then Bob took a great group shot before we headed back down.  We stopped

at Black Spruce Bog on the way back to our cars.  The hike ended around 3:30 pm with

All but 1 going to the Village Resturant in Litchfield for a relaxing late lunch/early dinner.

The party broke up around 6:00 pm with lots of squeaking coming from the chairs? as

we departed.  I would like to thank everyone for making my first time (as group leader) so special.

I was lucky to have such a great group of guys and look forward to leading future hikes.  Goshen Rich
