Let’s celebrate the spring with an invigorating weekend backpack exploring Sespe Creek, Southern California’s one and only federally-designated "wild and scenic river.” We&rsquo
We’ll meet up to consolidate our carpool in Camarillo (US101 x Pleasant Valley Rd) at 7:30am SHARP on the morning of Friday, April 16. L.A.-based hikers should plan on leaving L.A. no later than 6:00am.
There's a lovely book called "The Sespe Wild" that covers this awesome and mysterious wilderness. Though a stone's throw from Los Angeles, it's a world apart: rugged and austere, full of otherworldly creatures like bighorn sheep and condors and the ghosts of the not-so-long-extinct grizzly bears. For one delightful weekend in early spring, with delightful company, we lived "The Sespe Wild".
