To meet us at the trailhead in Franconia at 11 am, google map "Coppermine Trail, Coppermine Rd, Franconia, NH".

In case anyone has not received the communication about the change in hike today, we can also still meet at the parking lot at Holderness Central School (google map "Holderness Central School, School Rd, Holderness, NH") and then drive the 45 minutes over to the trailhead in Franconia.

Trip Report/Photos
Featured Photo Thanks to Dave, Wayne, Steve, Jay, Fred, and Max for joining us for a great hike today, and for going with the flow for a last minute change in the hike. We originally planned to do a loop to Mount Livermore via the Brooks Fisher Trail, but I found out late the night before that the Squam Lakes Association had closed the trails for mud season. So by Saturday morning we had communicated that the hike was going to be the Coppermine Trail to Bridal Veil Falls in Franconia, and everyone still came on the new hike! As far as weather, we couldn't have asked for anything better. It was a high in the 50s, sunny, and no wind. There was ice and then packed snow on the trail, but microspikes worked great and we never had any post holing. On the way up, we stopped by the plaque put up by Bette Davis in honor of one of her husbands, Arthur Farnsworth "the Keeper of Stray Ladies". When we got to the waterfall, we were able to climb up the waterfall (due to the snow and ice, otherwise it would all have been wet slippery rock) to see magnificent ice formations. All in all, it was a great day to do a great hike with great people and great conversation!
