"It's summer solstice, man!!!"  Need we say more?

Heavy rain, moderate rain, tropical warmth.  Mark and I pulled into the parking area thinking that if nobody showed up for the hike we may skip it ourselves due to the crappy weather.  NOPE!  We had four other adventurous hikers appear.  And, we were glad we pushed on.

The hike was wet, foggy, and muddy.  But, everyone had the "lets do it" attitude and turned what many people would have dubbed as a miserable endurance into an exciting, even spiritual adventure.

Waumbek was a walk in the woods.  It was a steady climb through pretty forests.  The trail had a lot of water flowing on it with many springs.  Our hike up was moderate and the descent was steady and slow.

Thank you to everyone who came.  We are really glad we experienced this day.

What Members Are Saying About This Trip/Event

  • This was one of the worst weather hikes I have done however, it was such an awesome day. I had a great time. It was nice to connect to nature when she was so moist. It was a great time had by all. I mostly enjoyed the fact that it was summer solstice and that was a great excuse to celebrate. It was great to meet Chris and Don and Bob too. I hope we all get together again soon. Much love boys <3 <3 <3 - EagleEye
  • Bare feet in the rain - no soggy footwear! Normally I would just stay home with wet weather. But I tried something new, and it was great! Of course it was the people that really brought the day together. Thanks Brian and Mark. Great to meet you Tim. - snowsurfer
