Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

Meet at the River Road parking lot @ 11 AM (Google Maps:  Beach St. Ogunquit, ME).  Again, plan on Sat. traffic on I-95 and bumper-to-bumper traffic on Route 1 as you approach Ogunquit and if you are late, you take your chances that we have not already left without you.  From MA, take I-95 North into Maine and take the last exit (exit 7) before the Maine Turnpike Toll station. Bear right at the end of the exit ramp, proceed to the traffic light and turn left onto Route 1 North.  (If you go straight through this light into the parking lot across Route 1, you will find a tourist information building with a clean bathroom on the right side of the lot and a Stonewall Kitchens place on the left.) About 5 miles North on Rout 1 will get you into Ogunquit Center with that awful intersection with no traffic signal.  Here is where you take the second right onto Beach Street and go down about a block and turn left onto River St. where you will find the put-in and the all day parking lot @ $20 + or -.

Three kayakers, bright sun, incoming tide, and eye candy on and off the water!  We timed our put-in for 12:00 noon  so that the put-in itself had enough water to make it easy, so that we had favorable incoming tidal current to make for an effortless paddle, and so that we could actually go through the culvert under the road in Wells.  We followed oxbow after oxbow until we reached the end of the Ogunquit River and made it back in time for a late lunch and some people watching on Ogunquit's Main Street.  Next time, maybe a more energetic trip with spray skirts attached:   through the surf and out to Perkin's Cove for lunch and a walk around the grounds of the Ogunquit Museum of American Art at the cove entrance before the draw bridge?
