September 5-7 is Virginia's BIG Summer Camping Weekend - The Fab Fest!

By Mike Boisvert.

This is going to be one of their biggest events so far! Gay River Camping (GRC) have booked campsites at a working cattle farm on the edge of the Shenandoah River!  It's located 10 miles south from Front Royal.

There will be a whole host of activities taking place over the course of the weekend including:-

  • Sunbathing/Swimming
  • Canoeing
  • Tubing
  • Kayaking
  • Volleyball
  • Fishing
  • Drinking

And that’s just during the daytime! …

During the evening the fun doesn’t stop. They will have a tent pitching party on Friday night. Saturday evening is the main event and begins with a fully catered reception of appetizers and dinner at 7:00PM. As dusk falls you will want to grab your chair and head up to the field for a professional Fireworks Extravaganza. At the conclusion of the fireworks show, they will retreat to the river for a bonfire dance party on the river until whenever.

The Festival begins Friday August 22, 2008 at 10:00 AM and ends on Sunday at 4:00 PM. Your ticket price includes cold beer on tap all weekend long, a big community grill, Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner, and evening fireworks show. You must bring your own food and soft drinks for Friday and Sunday! Extra ice for your cooler is available at the campsite for an additional charge.
