Living Hazard: Hunters
By Adrienne Hall.
Many areas that are open to hikers are simultaneously open to hunters. Before you plan a backpacking trip, find out if it is hunting season in the area. If so, know what is being hunted. If you are told that it is dangerous to hike in that area, heed the warning. Plan your trip elsewhere or reschedule when the hunters are gone. If the density of hunters is relatively low, you can still have a safe, rewarding trip if you follow the necessary precautions.
