Richard Interview

Have you always been an outdoorzy person?

I think so. I grew up in NYC but summers in the Whites in my teens. We used to fill our canteens in the streams, sleep outside and wear cotton! 

What do you like about GayOutdoors?

It's a great way to be able to reach out and connect with like-minded people. 

What was your first GO excursion? How did it turn out?

I think it was Slide Mountain, Catskills with Mike and Jon. I was impressed they would drive down from NH for a day hike. 

What is your favorite New York hike?

I always enjoy the Pharoah Lake [Eastern Adirondacks] hike. I know my favorite swimming hole will always be there.

What would members be most surprised to learn about you?

Gear [w]hoarder!

What is your favorite Adventure Travel place?

Any land of the midnight sun.

Complete this sentence...you know it's been a good GO trip when...

...everyone shows up.

And now for the lightning round...favorite healthy food?

Lobster, grilled fish, grilled vegetables, salad, cottage cheese & fruit, oatmeal with all the fixings, low fat chocolate sundaes.

Favorite "bad" food?

Lobster, loaded potato skins, onion rings, ribbon fries and ice cream sundaes.

Favorite hike snack?

Cheese, separate bags of sweet and savory trail mixes [recipes available upon request!].

If you could spend the day on the trail with one person, living or dead, it would be…

I think it would my father. I would have liked to be able to spend some time hiking with him.
