Eric L. Interview

What draws you to the greater outdoors in general?

The tranquility it brings me mixed with a sense of adventure. This may sound a little hokey, but sometimes I just like to sit and observe the sights, smells, and sounds of nature: trees and plants blooming, birds, frogs, crickets doing their thing; even snakes and spiders intrigue me. Fall is my favorite time of year. I could sit for hours at a time on my front porch when Fall comes around.

Why do you like GayOutdoors?

You can meet people who have the same interest in the outdoors as well as forge friendships with like-minded people.

What would members be most surprised to learn about you?

I am still single. I get asked *why* a lot!

What was your first GO trip? How did it turn out?

It has been so long ago I don't recall. But I know I had fun.

Outdoor Adventures that should not be missed?

The ones that are out there every day for you to enjoy ~ a local park, river, or trail. I honestly love the Nike motto, Just Do It. Make a commitment to go somewhere and just do it! What's holding you back? And more importantly invite others to join you.

Best outdoor advice you have ever gotten?

Plan properly and have fun. Also bring extra food and water!

What is your favorite place in Virginia?

The trail or river I haven't yet visited but am planning to visit. For places I've visited, James River Parks in Richmond, VA has lots of awesome trails. I'll soon be posting lots of trips when my schedule allows.

What is your secret talent?

I am a pretty good gardener, woodworker, and home remodeler. Well, I think so.

What piece of gear have you most recently bought?

Convertible pants and liner socks for a 3-day backpack trip I just completed.

Have you used duct tape on an outdoor excursion? If so, what did you do with it?

No, but plenty of bungee cords.
