Trip Report/Photos

We had missed a good thunderstorm the day before while scouting around for other campgrounds in the area and south in Crab Tree Falls area of Blue Ridge Mountains (just off the Blue Ridge Parkway).  This the forecast was more of the same.  We arrived back at our campsite around 6pm and decided to get a jump on showering before getting dinner.  The rain held off so we grilled our dinner and ate outside at the picnic table while the campfire burned.  Thunder could be heard and slowly dark clouds gathered.  Towards the end of our meal, it started to rain lightly so we quickly finished our dinners and moved inside.  (This is where my new camper shines as compared to camping in tents and eating/gathering under an outdoor canvas shelter!!).  We played cards and board games for a couple of hours while it showered lightely outside until it was time for bed.  It rained for several more hours and we slept in dry bliss hearing the rain and wind outside.
