- Distance is 10 miles (one-way).
This trip is considered STRENUOUS.
- Steady/quick pace
- Steep grade
- Rocky trails
- Open ledges
- Winter conditions are possible.
The group will meet at Moat Mountain Trail Head, Passaconway Road, Conway NH 8 am. We will then carpool to Dianna’s Bath in Bartlett NH (15 min ride).
PREPARATION/WHAT TO BRING: The mountains can have unpredictable and extreme weather changes year-round. It is recommended that hikers have extra dry clothing and wind protection. Always have water and food. If you need suggestions on what to bring, PLEASE ASK!!
For this trip, it is important to bring along flexibility, patience, and a sense of humor.
Group Size It is not fun leaving folks out.
- If you cannot attend, PLEASE cancel so others may join.
- If you are on the waiting list, please contact me days prior to the trip, most likely there will be room and if needed this trail will allow us to break the group into two smaller groups.
- Please do NOT bring any dogs on this hike.
Decreasing the impact on the environment is always a priority! Please plan to “carry in and carry out” all items. It may also be possible to collect other hikers’ debris along the way.
Weather: If the weather is a concern any updates or cancellation information will be posted by the Thursday prior to 6 pm. If there is a cancellation, it will include a “possible” rescheduled date so participants can watch for that opportunity.
Safety is a priority! Any time a hiker is injured or lost a HUGE team of volunteers is dispatched to aid in the search and rescue efforts. No one wants to be injured or put others in harm’s way. Always be prepared. Know your limits. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the hike leaders.

thanks JT. North Moat summit looks much cooler with winds up to 35 mph, so I'll definitely bring layers. See you in the am
You guys have fun. I'm planning onndoing a test run on Greylock instead. :)
Weather sources say 50 degrees and sunny on Saturday in Conway NH. Last weekend the region saw close to 2 feet of snow (if not more). There has been steady rain for the pass few days. I highly recommend micro spikes. The ascent, north facing, does not get much direct sun. Plan to experience MUD, ICE and CORN SNOW (loose granular ice). Sunscreen is also ideal. The summit area and descent are fairly open.
JT do you know what are the snow/ice conditions are? weve been nothing but rain down here for weeks
We will carpool from The Moat Mountain Trailhead (Passaconway Road) to Dianna's Bath (Bartlett). 15 to 20 min ride.
During the winter Passaconway Road is only accessible from West Side Road (Conway). The road is closed at the Albany Covered Bridge off the Kancamangus Highway (aka Rt 112) at Blackberry Crossing.

As always everyone is welcome to sign up for activities. For this trip it is understood that participants have experience with long distance, back country situations and will be well prepared. Although temps will be warmer and daylight longer, the setting may still have winter conditions. If you have any questions, contact nhclimber03264.
