Summary

Meet at the parking area for Oven's Mouth West (see directions below). We will follow the white trail on the west preserve through the woods, heading west and then north towards the Back River. As we loop southward, we will reach the pedestrian bridge and cross over to the East Preserve, will head northeast and cover the White trail Loop on the east preserve, making it back to the bridge, then continuing south along the White trail on the west preserve, completing our loop and then returning to the parking area. The west White trail is distance is 2.37 miles, minimum elevation: -2 feet, maximum elevation: 166 feet. Total climb: 306 feet. Total descent: 273 feet. The east White loop is 1.26 miles.

For those who are interested, we can go to downtown Boothbay Harbor for a bite to eat. Boathouse Bistro is very good!

Ovens Mouth Preserve is comprised of two distinct peninsulas connected by a pedestrian bridge. Both the East and West sections of Ovens Mouth are heavily wooded and feature partial water frontage and shoreline trails, quiet coves, and salt marsh, as well as stunning areas for picnicking, nature studies and watching the dramatic tidal change of the Ovens Mouth passage.
Both peninsulas are home to a variety of wildlife, including eagles, osprey, otters and deer. The East and West sections of Ovens Mouth Preserve are connected by a 93-foot pedestrian bridge which provides excellent views of the waterways as well as the opportunity for more extensive hiking across the trail system.
