Join us for a 7 mile hike through this NH state park with lovely scenery and varied landscapes. Starting from the parking lot on Mountain Road, we'll hike to and from South Mountain via the Mountain and South Ridge Trails. If there's time and interest, we'll extend the hike to Middle Mountain, an additional two miles round trip. While this isn't a “difficult” hike, there is some climbing involved. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and layered clothing, and bring lunch and/or snacks and plenty of liquid. Keep in mind that spring is mud season in NH. So perhaps don't wear your fresh-out-of-the-box, never-worn hiking boots! NOTE: If steady rain is forecast for Saturday, we'll move the hike to Sunday (4/25). This hike is being cross-listed with Chiltern Mountain Club. We're limiting it to six participants from each group.
We'll meet at the Pawtuckaway SP Parking lot, accessed from 128 Mountain Road, Nottingham, NH. Look for Neil's blue Toyota Prius or Charlie's green Ford Edge. IMPORTANT: Reservations are now required for NH state parks. The Sheriff of Nottingham may ticket cars without one. You also may be refused entry to the park. You must make the reservation by 3 p.m. on the day before the hike, but you'd be well-advised to do so a few days in advance.
