Summary

JOIN US IN ACADIA - for 1 to 3 nights - we'll be hiking, biking, kayaking & sightseeing in Acadia National Park.

We will arrive in Acadia on Tuesday, September 1 (noonish) and leave Friday, September 5 (early afternoon) – for a total of 3 nights.

IF YOU CANNOT STAY FOR THE 3 NIGHTS -- then arrive & leave when you can (we will work out the meet up details). Any questions – just email me via the GO site.

NOTE: ACADIA National Park is going thru a phased reopening – by September it appears the park should be mostly open. However, if the situation changes we may have to cancel this trip. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen. We will follow all National & Maine CDC guidelines in effect at the time of our trip. Closer to the trip date I will send out any details of these guidelines to all members who have signed up.

You will have to arrange your own transportation & lodging. We have booked a room at the Edenbrook - which has a 7 day cancellation notice ($25 fee) should we have to modify trip dates. The area has several campgrounds and other motels/hotels to choose from.

We will schedule hikes and bike rides (on the carriage roads), as well as, sightseeing adventures. All activities are optional and you can choose those you’d like to attend or schedule your own activities.

The area has biking and kayaking rentals & tours.

Since all activities are optional - Let’s try to meet, at least, for dinner at the end of the day.

HIKING:
We will plan a hike every day – all hikes are 6 miles or less with a maximum 1,200 foot elevation gain.

These hikes will begin in the morning and finish in the early afternoon – allowing guys to do other activities in the afternoon.

BIKING:
We will plan a bike ride most afternoons.

Bring your bike or rent one. There is approximately 12 miles (out & back) of easy–moderate carriage roads.

For those who want a more extensive biking adventure, we will do some of the outer carriage roads.

KAYAKING / CANOEING:
There is an abundance of ocean kayaking available. Some of the Acadia lakes are also open to paddlers. Bring your kayak/canoe or rent one. If you choose you can also join any of the kayaking tours.

SIGHTSEEING / WALK:
There are ocean paths and gardens that promise spectacular views. These involve fairly easy walking. We’ll try to do as many as these as time allows.

There are numerous other outdoor activities to do like:

Touring the Park Loop Road
Hitting Sand Beach
Catch a scenic ocean day cruise
Explore Downtown Bar Harbor

We will work out the exact meetup locations once everyone has signed up.
