Summary

Don’t have a tent?  Don’t worry, I have extras.

Join other GO members and me for a relaxing time camping (or rent a rustic cabin or train caboose) at the base of the Shenandoah National Park just 2 hours from DC and 2-1/2 from Richmond!  Forget the crowded campsites in Shenandoah NP and join us for some awesome campsites.

Bring your marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate for s'mores.  Wake up to the smell of bacon cooking in the crisp autumn air.

Reservations; http://www.heavenlyacres.net/reservations.php for tent, trailer, cabins or train caboose.  I’ll be reserving a large camp site for Friday and Saturday.  Stay one night or both nights.

I haven't heard back from Heavenly Acres, so I think they are out of business/sold since no reply to my email, the online reservation isn't working and phone number is disconnected. So, we'll camp at Lewis Mountain Campground, in Shenandoah National Park. It is the same place we camp last year which was campsite #31 https://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/upload/Lewis_combined.pdf

Hiking, backpacking, camping or vacation adventures, GayOutdoors [GO] has been the LGBTQ outdoorzy community leader for the last 22 years. We are an informal group of diverse hiking enthusiasts in the United States with a shared love of the mountains who prefer hiking with friends. We invite you to join us on our hikes, to post hikes for other members to join you and to share your hiking photos, stories and advice.

If you find it invigorating to hike along a mountain trail with friends not knowing what’s just around the corner, to get some fresh air, to stop and soak in the views on a summit, and to soak your feet in a mountain brook after a hike, give us a try!
