SUMMARY: Playalinda Beach is part of Florida's Canaveral National Seashore and is run by the National Park Service. It is the most unspoiled and pristine beach on the east coast of Florida. Access is from Titusville. Head east on SR406 and after a mile or two bear right on SR402. It's going to be about seven or eight miles out to the NPS booth where you will pay $10 for access. (There is a little secret here...ask for the Back Country Pass. It's an additional $2 and allows you to walk beyond the northern limit of Playalinda. Canaveral National Seashore extends about 13 miles north to Apollo Beach, a great hike but needs preparation. Back Country Passes are limited to 25 per day.) If you have the Golden Eagle or America the Beautiful passes, you get in free. (You would still have to pay for the Back Country Pass) Arriving at the beach, the clothing-optional section is all the way at the north end where parking is limited. Arrive by 9am weekdays; earlier on weekends. The crowd is a very friendly mix of gay, straight, curious & uncertain. There are NO facilities! This is Florida and it's hot! Take plenty of water, sun screen and whatever you want to lug along.
