We all met in the parking lot at the main entrance to Hacklebarney State Park. Picked up a map of trails, and one of our members who is a regular here led the way. We meandered up and down hills, across rivers and streams. We saw lots of spring poking up from the ground, even a few flowers. We also met lots of folks fishing in the swift running waters of the streams. The weather started off cool but quickly warmed up. After a couple hours of hiking and joining in on great conversation, we head back to the parking lot. From there we went to few miles up the road to a local brew pub for a wonderful light lunch, more great conversation and laughs. Afterwards, a few of us ended the day with a visit across the street at a local goat cheese farm. There we sampled cheeses, pet the animals, and made our purchases (wonderful cheeses!). It was a perfect day to spend with the guys, meet new GO members and try various new places. Thanks to the help of GO to bring it together.

What Members Are Saying About This Trip/Event

  • What a wonderful way to spend a beautiful spring day. The park was beautiful, the company fabulous and the after-hike activities fun and relaxing. Was great to see some old friends and make some new ones. Kudos to GO and Ed, the trip organizer, for making this such an interesting, refreshing day...And Ed, it was a sheep farm, a sheep farm - cheese made out of sheep milk, and wool stuff made from sheep, not goats! Some of these city guys have trouble recognizing their farm animals! - Rand667
