Brooks led a group of nine GOers from the skii parking area up Balanced Rock trail to the summit where we enjoyed unencumbered views in 360* including the Boston skyline.  We lingered on the summit and found shelter from brisk breezes while we ate lunch beside a small dammed pond, stocked and swarming with gold fish, who had a feeding frenzy from our lunch crumbs.  It was on the way down that I beheld the balanced rock for which the trail got its name.  Awesome!  a rock as big as my kitchen precariously and lopsidedly balanced on a smaller rock.  Never will I disparage Wachusett Mt. again as a piddly little stepsister to Monadnock.  It was a grand  mountain and a lot of fun.  Of course the company colors the trip and Eldad, Luiz, Adam, Ibrahim, Brian, Sam, Christopher, and Brooks are the best.  Sam (of Long Island) has pictures.  I hope you will post them, Sam.  By Pappi aka sAm (of Newton)
