We'll hike 6 miles of some of the most spectacular terrain on Monadnock on a beautiful (fingers crossed) Saturday, and have them pretty much to ourselves in the bargain.  We'll take the Lost Farm

...
Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

From Boston, take Route 2 west to rte. 140 north (a couple of miles after the rte. 140 south exit).  After 9.6 miles, rte. 140 ends on rte. 12; continue straight (north) on 12.  In a bit over a mile, turn right on Glenallan, which is a shortcut to 202 (you'll see a "to 202" sign).  Continue onto rte. 202 north to Jaffrey.  Turn left on rte. 124 in Jaffrey; in 2.2 miles turn right onto Dublin Road at the sign to Monadnock State Park.  Follow signs to park.  $4 admission fee at park entrance.  We'll meet by the park store, by the main parking lot.  I'm tall and spectacled and answer to the name of Russell, and I'll be wearing a baby-blue t-shirt with leaves and "J.C. Raulston Arboretum" prominently printed on it.

From the eastern CT, RI, and southeast MA, take interstate 190 or 495 to route 2 west, and follow the above directions.

From other points, google-map Monadnock State Park.
