Signing Up For An Event

All events are free! If you've spotted something you'd like to do in the Events Calendar sign up for it by clicking on the e-mail address of the Trip Leader.

For such things as house or condo rentals, you will need to mail the full amount to the Trip Leader by the date given to you. He will then forward your money to the establishment to confirm your attendance. Or the Trip Leader will ask you to call the establishment directly and pay with a credit card. Trip Leaders should not be putting in any money up-front for anyone, so you need to get the required money for the activity very quickly. This way we'll lock in our reservations and get good group rates!

The money aspect needs to be handled as quickly as possible, so no trip leader goes out on a limb and winds up a few dollars short of the goodness of his or her heart.

Rules Of Conduct

Gay Outdoors (GO) wishes to promote only fun and safe activities between outdoorzy guys.Any behavior deemed inappropriate will not be tolerated. Gay Outdoors will absolutely not tolerate:

  • intentional harm to another person
  • sexual or racial harassment
  • destruction or theft of property
  • disrespect for our natural surroundings, including damage to trees, plants, animals, and structures
  • transgression of any law within the territory in which the group activity takes place
  • disregard for the rules of the area where you may be staying (campground rules, etc.)
  • lack of preparation for group activities (this will result with expulsion from the particular activity for your own safety, although if you are continually unprepared, you will be banned from future activities)

Anyone who does not respect the rights of the others in the group or willfully disobeys the laws of the area in which the activity is taking place will be banned IMMEDIATELY from the activity and from further activities with Gay Outdoors. This is a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY which we must adopt to keep all members of the group safe.

Please be considerate of the others in and around the group when it comes to: foul language, alcohol consumption, smoking, "dirty" jokes, sexual remarks, excessive noise, and so on.

Rules also apply to pets, so please make sure it'll be OK to have FIDO along (most of the time it's just fine, but dogs aren't allowed in some campgrounds, State Parks, National Parks, National Forests and all Audubon Society Sanctuaries, so please keep that in mind). Be sure to bring a leash and a trowel for your dog.

The event's trip leader and the other members of the group may deny anyone the right to attend an activity if he or she is unprepared or found to be disruptive to other members of the group. I sincerely hope we do not run into any problems with groups. These rules are here to protect us all, if there are problems. Generally the people who've joined Gay Outdoors activities are just great, and we'd like to keep it that way!
