 This is known as the "Jacuzzi" trip because of the river-wide ledge over which the 85-degree water of the South Fork of the Shenandoah River tumbles and forms a natural jacuzzi, in

Driving directions to the location and spot to meet at:

 River Camping Driving Directions 

1. Take I-66 West. 62.14 miles 

2. Take the VA-79 exit- exit number 13- toward VA-55/ LINDEN/ FRONT 

ROYAL. 0.28 miles 

3. Turn LEFT onto VA-79 APPLE MOUNTAIN RD. 0.23 miles 

4. Turn RIGHT onto VA-55/ JOHN MARSHALL HWY. Continue to follow VA55 

E. 5.23 miles 

5. Turn LEFT onto US-340/ S ROYAL AVE. Continue to follow US-340 S. 

9.57 miles 

6. Turn RIGHT onto VA-629/ ACORN HILL RD. 0.99 miles 

Note: You will see a white church on your right, just before turning. 

7. Turn RIGHT onto VA-628/ ROCKY HOLLOW RD. 0.22 miles 

Note. Gravel road begins. You will see a sign on the fence Massanutten 

Canoe Co. 

8. Turn LEFT onto VA-629/ ACORN HILL RD. 0.30 miles 

(Yep, Acorn Hill again. There's a mailbox for the Munson's right after the 

turn). 

9. This is whale it gets tricky. Follow Acorn Hill Rd. all the way to the end. 

(This will take you all the way to the river. If you're traveling at night, you won't 

see it until you're right on it. Go slow!) 

10. Turn left there. Continue driving on gravel road. Just past Crystal River Rd 

on left. You will come to a fork in the road. To the left is a road that should 

always have a chain going across to keep people out. DON'T GO THERE 

GO TO THE RIGHT. If there is a chain up it should be unlocked. Just get out 

of your car and take it down girl friend, and leave it down. 

There's a sign for Massanutten Canoe Co., and a sign that says Private 

Property - Do Not Enter. ENTER ANYWAY. 

NOTE: LANDMARK - You will see an old house on the right with trailers of 

canoe's in the yard. (You might not see this at night.) 

Follow the road into the deep woods. 

You will come to a large field on your right. Keep going. 

NOTE: You might see some cows. No tipping please.

The main road will turn to the right, stay with it. Look for a sign that say's 

CAMPING ï

you will pass through another gate, drive on. 

You're almost there. 

The road will curve to the left but turn right; the campsites will be off on the right. Campsite 

#4 is about halfway down. Please unload and park your car in the field.  Look for the blue toyota in the field.
