Brooks Interview

How old were you when you first went hiking and who took you? How did it turn out?

I started hiking with my family when I was around 8 years old, I enjoyed it a lot and never stopped.

What draws you to hiking and the greater outdoors in general?

I enjoy being with nature, and keeping physically active. I also like the social component of GO.

To date, what is the hardest outdoor adventure you've had to tackle, and why?

There have been many, but one of my favorites is my annual trip up Mt. Washington, I usually take a different route each year.

What is your favorite survival tip?

Energy drinks!

What is your favorite state highpoint and why? How many have you climbed?

Currently my favorite state high point is Mt. Washington for N.H. although I would like to start traveling to other states as well.

Do you listen to tunes on the trail? What tunes would you listed to?

I don't listen to tunes on the trail, I like the sound of nature.

What is your favorite national park or forest, and why?

Locally, the White Mountain National Forest is my favorite.

What is your favorite outdoor retail shop and why?

I would say it is a tie between EMS and REI.

What is your dream international adventure and why?

I would like to go back to some of the countries which I visited on my Semester at Sea during college. We only stayed in each of the 13 ports visited for 3-5 days. I would like to go back and spend more time exploring some of them, especially Cambodia, parts of Africa, and India.

What celebrity [dead or alive] would you like as a tentmate and why?

I don't know who he is, but I'm sure we will find each other someday.
