JT Interview
Hiking began very young with family, Jr High and High School was part of the outing clubs. Throughout college I worked in summer camping program that is outdoor adventure based. Moved on to run an outdoor adventure program for high school teens in public school.
I enjoy many things, greatest is think is the quiet.
Not sure about this. I have done many activities and many were challenging to me. Never sure if others felt the same way. But I guess the most difficult is being involved in a SAR situation. Carry out of a patient is very difficult and a TEAM effort. The one task is saving another persons life. You have to set aside many things to make this goal real.
Have fun, sounds weird but if you loose site of this many other aspects begin to fail and lead to dangerous results. Always be prepared to care for yourself. If you can not do that how can you help others.
I love them all and from an early age climbed them all (in NH). Every point a view is different. When I go back it is like seeing an old friend and we all know -- no two friends are alike.
Oh yes all the time. I enjoy the sounds of water, birds, at night the owls and bears. Best of all is silence, scary but welcome.I truly feel that electronic devives should be left at home. Including my own cell phone and I have no desire to use GPS. Get a compass, no batteries.
Crossing a ridge is great fun in the moon light. If done in the winter the snow lights up under the shooting stars. It is amazing world that few adventure into.
My outdoor adventures and travel has been somewhat limited to New England. Many favorites but I love my own White Mt National forest. I have worked and played here. I have hiked on trails I built and I feel when I bring someone into the forest they are hooked as well.
Never really hand money for expensive clothes or toys, I love visiting stores like EMS and Cabela's -- But my supplies have been from lost and founds or bargain basements. In the woods I am no label queen. KEEP IT SIMPLE.
This list would have no end, but top on the list would be to visit Scotland. Hike the many mountains of my ancestors.
This is a dangerous question. My tent is small so I would be very picky. Ghandi might smell, MLK I bet snores. Jesus would preach in his sleep and Brad Pitt well he is a DILF but not sure he can handle the outdoors. I bet he is a nelly hiker. I guess the best tent mate would be someone simple, who likes the outdoors and would not need any guidance but can handle themselves. I guess John Muir comes to mind. Not so hot on the beard but I bet he has a lot of stories. Some day I hope to have some too.
