Mount Osceola is a 4,340-foot peak within the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Located in the White Mountain National Forest, the mountain is named for Osceola, the early-19th century Seminole leader. It is the highest peak in the Waterville Valley region.

7 GO members got together on a stellar weather Saturday for a quick ascent up Gay Outdoors adopted peak.  The club maintains the trail with a once a year clipping, brush clearing, water bar digging and general sprucing up.  As the US Forest Service had recently completed a spring cleanup there was no need for heavy trail work.  The trail is in fantastic shape from trail head to summit bc of Gay Outdoors 10 years of stewardship and dedication from it's hiking members who volunteer to help.

With enthusiasm, laughs, fun banter and steady pace the group ascended with ease.  Pine scented breezes, vistas to distant peaks, happy birds chirping and occasional shirtless eye candy competed for attention on the 2 hour climb to the sun drenched summit.

We began the hike at 10:30 am and hit the summit 2 hours later to enjoy a well deserved rest, recharge and revelry.  Hiking as a group, chatting, looking out for eachother and sharing the experience makes for strong bonds of friendship.

On the way down we decided to remove a 40 foot tree that had fallen across the trail.   With a saw we cut it into a couple of pieces and moved it out of the way.  That's how we role - the mountain gave us a great day and we gave back some love by making it better than we found it.  Thank you GO buds!

Aftwards we all got together at Osceola Vista campground for a campfire and dinner with other GO members.  The moon rose and the stars appeared overhead as we winded down a memorable day shared with fine friends on this journey through a life well lived.
