GayOutdoors Chapters

More trails. More friends. More ways to belong. Chapters are our next step in growing a vibrant, welcoming gay and gay friendly men’s outdoor community across the Northeast—so it’s easier to get outside and get connected close to home.

How Chapters Work

Chapters support GayOutdoors’ strategic priorities: member engagement, leadership development, and a stronger sense of community across the Northeast. The goal is simple: make it easier to meet up, get outside, and build friendships.

  • Host a few local meetups, walks, or hikes each year (even 1–2 per season helps).
  • Welcome new members and help them feel comfortable joining their first event.
  • Encourage trip leaders and spark local momentum—one idea at a time.
  • Keep it easy: you’re not “running a chapter,” you’re simply helping people connect.

Help Bring GayOutdoors to Your Area

We’re building local momentum—one trail, one meetup, one new friend at a time. If you can say hello, help welcome people, and host the occasional outing, you can do this.

Coordinators can always use an assistant, co-leader, or “buddy system” partner. You won’t be doing it alone.
