I will be updating this more thoroughly in 2-3 days but here are the basics…
It’ll be a moderately easy 2.5 - 3 mile LGBTQ hike through the odd and interesting wooded area of Gloucester MA known as Dogtown. (2-3 other area LGBT groups have been invited.)
Where else can you walk through the woods and find big boulders with things like “Courage”, “Be True” and “Never Try Never Win” chiseled into them?
This hike is also being cross posted with a couple area LGBTQ groups.
“Five square miles of wild, historic woodland spanning Gloucester and Rockport — Dogtown's glacial boulders, colonial cellar holes, and engraved Babson Boulders make it Cape Ann's most fascinating untamed treasure.”

Use “84 Cherry St Gloucester MA” on maps or GPS. As you approach look across the street for a brown “Essex National Heritage Area Dogtown Commons” sign.) That’s Dogtown Rd. Drive up it about 1000’ and you’ll see a small parking area on the right (that’s also the meeting spot). If it is full drive back down to Cherry St and park on the opposite side of the street from the houses (pull up onto the shoulder).
One of the photos shows the details of the parking and where we’re meeting (the red “X”.) If you’re coming in from Boston/Beverly on Rte 128 North the broken red line shows the route.
We’ll meet at the trailhead at the small parking lot on Dogwood Rd. I’ll be wearing a beige ball cap.
