We got a perfect day, cold and windy and clear. Above green leaf hut the wind picked up and most of the rocky ascent to Lafayette was coated in rime ice. Great views over to Cannon and along Franconia ridge and down into the Pemigewasset wilderness and over the Washingington and the presidentials (all white and coated in ice!) windchill in the teens at the summit of Lafayette! But we came prepared and layered up. More of the same adjectives for the rest of the day. Stunning, gorgeous, clear. Fall colors down below us, icy winter wind and rime ice above treeline. By the time we got to Garfield winds had dropped some and it was warmer, enjoyed a long break with perfect views over to Owls head, the Bonds, the twins, and the backside of Lafayette and Franconia ridge. Descended Garfield trail with beautiful afternoon light illuminating the yellow and red leaves on the ground and still on the trees. Thanks guys for a perfect day.
