Summary

Join me for a leisurely mid-fall bike ride along the scenic Norwottuck Rail Trail (https://www.mass.gov/locations/norwottuck-rail-trail) in western Massachusetts. We’ll ride round trip from the Connecticut River Greenway State Park parking lot in Northampton to Warren Wright Road on the western edge of Belchertown, about 22 miles altogether. The trail is well-paved and compatible with most any bike. It is largely flat with a few mild hills. We’ll take a few brief breaks along the way and have lunch at or near Warren Wright. Bring lunch and/or some hearty snacks and plenty of water. Dress in layers that you can put on/take off as weather conditions warrant. Consider bringing a wind resistant outer shell and a hat and gloves. After the ride, if folks are interested, we can grab a coffee in Northampton.

Directions To Trailhead Parking Lot

We’ll meet at the trailhead (by the bridge) in the Connecticut River Greenway parking lot on Damon Rd. The lot is at the beginning of Damon Rd., Northampton, just past the traffic circle at the foot of I-91 northbound exit 25 (Rt. 9 Northampton). It is on your right if you’re coming from 91 north. In the event that the parking lot is full, go back to the circle and turn right on Bridge St. Go for about a mile to Old Ferry Rd. and turn left. Park in the Sheldon Field lot on your left. Bike back to the Greenway lot and meet the group there.

Could someone give me a ride from Allston? I have a bike rack even! Actually, I have a car, too -- but I won't drive alone.
