Summary

Evergreen Woodland Garden Walk

Step into a hidden world of natural wonder. Join us for a tranquil stroll through the Evergreen Woodland Garden, a one-acre oasis designed by landscape artist Robert Gillmore. Timed with the spectacular blooming of 220 Catawba rhododendrons, this self-guided walk is the perfect way to welcome early summer.

Highlights of this naturalistic garden include:

* Sweeping masses of Catawba rhododendrons and mountain laurels
* Shade-tolerant evergreens and variegated ground covers
* A seasonal cascading brook, granite cliffs, and natural “rooms” framed by giant boulders
* The White Room and the Gold Room – peaceful, floral sanctuaries within the garden
* Over 100 white pines and 80 glacial boulders, including “the Cave” and the massive 12-foot North Wall

Enjoy interpretive signs along a gently graded quarter-mile path. This is a rare opportunity to see mature rhododendrons in full bloom—some reaching ten feet tall and planted more than 30 years ago!
